This recipe is one of my husbands favorite breakfast treats. They also go good with stew.
1 3/4 cups Flour
1 TBSP Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
3 TBSP Butter – softened
3 TBSP shortening
1 TBSP sugar (optional)
1/4 tsp Garlic powder
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
3/4 cup milk
In large bowl combine Flour, Baking Powder, Salt, sugar, garlic powder & cheese. Cut butter and shortening into flour mixture until crumbly. Stir in milk until it forms a ball. Place on floured surface and kneed 10 times.
Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thick. Cut out biscuits and place on an ungreased pan. Place them close together for soft sides.
I use a glass pan but you can use metal.
Bake at 450 degrees for 12 – 15 minutes or until golden brown.
I made breakfast sandwiches with these, scrambled eggs and ham made for a yummy sandwich.
We wrapped them in foil and headed to an auction. (Sorry for the blurry pic, I was in a hurry, the auction was calling me. )
If you like Breakfast, take a look at my Apple Rhubarb Oven Pancake, mmmmm!
